US-Based Artists – Most pin companies outsource their art and recycle old designs. Not Custom Comet. Our team of artists based in the United States have decades of experience designing sports trading pins. They understand what is popular have created pins for hundreds of different tournaments.

Your Softball Pins Are Fully Customizable
Our trading pins are fully customizable. We offer pin types, thousands of color choices, and an array of metal finishes. Even the backs of our pins can be customized.
Below are just some of the options available to you. If there is something special you’d like to try, please don’t hesitate to ask. We love new ideas and can create just about anything.
Pin Types – We offer soft enamel, hard enamel, and offset printed pins. While soft enamel is the de-facto choice for teams, offset printed pins are an alternative for those in a rush or needing to show shadows and gradients in their art. Hard enamel provides a classier look that is a great choice for tournament staff or umpires.
Pin Upgrades – Adding some bling is a great way to stand out from the crowd. We offer blinkers, bobbleheads, crystals, danglers, puzzle pins, sliders, spinners, and more. Add some glitter to your pins to make it shine or use our glow-in-the-dark paint for a really cool effect.
Choice of Backers – Utilize not just the front, but the back of your pins. We offer the choice of colorful rubber backers to accentuate your design. Or for a classier look, go with the classic metal butterfly clasps.

Filling out our quote form is a great way to get started. We ask for some information on the pins you’re looking for and about your team (websites, social media, etc). The includes uploading any logos, photos, or even something sketched on paper. We’ll do our best to work from that information to provide you a proof to start from.
And if you’re completely lost about what to get, no worries, our team has decades of experience designing pins. We are happy to answer any and all questions and can point you in the direction of what you may need for a particular tournament.
Getting all the players and parents on the same page of a design can be a monumental task for you. This is why we are happy to offer unlimited revisions to your design till we’ve created something your team loves.
Don’t be shy either, it’s part of the process. Sometimes you need to see how a design looks with a different color, and sometimes it’s best to just scrap it and start fresh. Whatever you’re looking at, our talented art team is ready to work for you.
We recommend starting at 1.5″ and working your way up depending on the design. Pins listing player names or numbers typically need to be closer to 2″ in size. And tournaments such as Cooperstown tend to gravitate to large pins.
Trading pins are meant to standout and the larger pins tend to have higher trade values. You are better off ordering a smaller number of large pins as opposed to higher quantity of small pins.

We recommend that each player have one pin for each team participating in the tournament. At the very least, you’ll want one pin for each team you play.
One thing to keep in mind is that pin trading is for everyone. Parents, siblings, and even umpires participate in the fun. So ordering some extras just in case is always a great idea. Since price per pin drops with higher quantities, the more you order, the more you save.
Soft enamel is the de-facto choice for travel softball teams. They are comprised of a thick metal base that is typically iron although sometimes zinc is used to protect thinner parts that may break off. Edges are raised and filled in with enamel paint and left to dry. Soft enamel pins have a textured feel and high-quality look.
Offset-printed pins take a solid metal base and then print your design on to them. They are then capped with an epoxy top to provide protection from scratches. The ability to print directly to the metal allows for more complex designs that utilize shadows or gradients. They also take less time to produce and cost less than their soft enamel counterparts.

Our pins are currently manufactured at our factory in China. They have decades of experience creating pins and the most stringent standards in place to ensure a quality product.
At Custom Comet, we try our best to manufacture everything we can in the United States. However, certain products are just not possible due to overwhelming costs. To produce pins of this quality in the United States, the price would 3-4 times as much.
Almost every maker of trading pins imports from China. While there are companies that offer US-made pins, they are considerably lower quality (more of a button than a pin) and only recommended for last-minute purchases.
On average, trading pins take 3 weeks to manufacture and another week to ship. All orders ship via FedEx or UPS.
When you receive a quote from us, we will inform you of the last possible date you can place an order to expect your pins to arrive on time.
Please note that shipping delays can occur. We highly recommend ordering your pins at the earliest possible date to provide some added cushion. You have enough stress to deal with heading off to a tournament and waiting on a last-minute delivery should not be one of them.
We currently do not offer a rush option at this time. Pins are made in the order they are received.
