You’ve created your design, decided which pin style works, and chosen the add-ons that fit your aesthetic. Now it’s time to think about the presentation of your new custom pins. Pin Backer Card

What is a backer card?

A backer card is a piece of cardstock, usually, 2”x 3” in rectangular form or 2”x 2” in square form (or a custom size if you choose), that attaches and rests behind your pin. They can have a hole punched through the top for easy display on a pegboard or remain as is for other forms of display.  A backer card is a common choice as a means of presentation and a way to incorporate other artistic elements and important information.

What can backer cards be used for?

A backer card has many uses from enhancing the presentation, offering a convenient retail display, or just a way to brand yourself. They can even be used for something as simple as a thoughtful message or thank you to the buyer. Here are just some of the uses we’ve found for our pin backer cards:

Branding: Your amazingly designed pin is doing a lot of the work already, but a backer card lets your customers know who you are and what your company stands for. You have the choice of color scheme, design, effects, font, logo, and much more. You can even mix and match various pin designs with multiple backer cards to keep things interesting. Whether you keep it simple or pack it full, this is your space to show the world who you are.

Presentation: For creative types, using the backer card as a natural extension of your pin can create some eye-catching designs that customers can’t resist. Since our backer cards are full-color and printed at a high resolution, the possibilities are endless.

Retail Displays: If your pins are being sold in a retail space, a backer card is a must. Not only for branding purposes, but a simple hole punch at the top allows them to slide onto most pegboard hooks. We’ll even punch the holes for you if you’d like. And if the stores require a UPC code, we can print it directly on the card.

Further Information: It’s not just about presentation, a quality backer card can provide valuable information that can help define your company, charity, or organization. Include contact information, websites, and your social media accounts. We can even print a QR code that will direct them to wherever you want (such as your Etsy store). The goal is to make it as easy as possible for your customers and supporters to find out more about you and your business.

Multiple Pins: If you’re selling multiple enamel pins as a set, a backer card is an easier and more convenient tool for displaying. It allows for more working space and an aesthetically pleasing presentation of your pins.

Thoughtful Messages: Sometimes it’s best to keep things simple. Add an inspirational quote or a simple thank you to your card. Or leave some space blank so you can add your signature. Who knows? It may be worth a lot someday.
